Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® is also known as the Yoga of Awareness; its focus is on self-awareness and delivering an experience of your highest consciousness. Kundalini yoga incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation, mudras and the chanting of mantras, such as Sat nam ("I am truth"). Students expected to encounter challenging breathing exercise known as Breath of Fire and vigorous postures which often repeat for minutes, together, push you to your limit and beyond. The fundamental objective of Kundalini yoga is to increase consciousness, awaken the power of the individual to excel, to experience their Infinity and fulfill their personal destiny and embrace a happy, healthy and holy life.

Macedonian born Maya has combined her talents as a successful classical pianist and performer with her upbeat personality, culminating in a unique style of yoga and meditation for modern living. Maya’s style of yoga is based on the Kundalini Yoga tradition, as taught by Yogi Bhajan founder of the 3HO Foundation in 1969. Her visible philosophy of good health and living with inner peace and confidence, have made her one of the most in-demand yoga instructors in Europe. Her classes are fun, uplifting and above all inspirational.  In December 2009, Maya relocated to Los Angeles, to share her teaching and further her possibilities as a world renowned Kundalini yoga teacher and transformational guide.

Maya came to England in the early 1990’s to complete her training as a classical pianist and was soon playing to audiences as diverse as The United Nations Assembly and members of the Royal Family at private recitals with her dazzling virtuosity. In 1995, she released her debut album “Cross of Silence” to critical acclaim, described by Q- Magazine as ‘The point where ambient, dance, world and classical music all meet, at the crossroads of quiet dignity and power’. Maya’s current CD, “Mayaspace,” is a fusion of Yoga mantras and music of chilling beauty. It features guest spots from friends and peers such as Deepak Chopra. In 2009, Maya released the “Mood Mantras” CD which is a remix of various mantras.

Having practiced a variety of yoga for years, Maya decided in 2003 to train as a Kundalini teacher. Maya studied under Shiv Charan Singh at the Karam Kriya School in London. The name given to Maya at the naming ceremony is Har Bhajan, which means praise the name of God, Divinity & Infinity, through Sound and Mantra. Maya therefore feels destined to teach Kundalini with the help of her musical background. Maya uses her original music in her classes, which she also performs live in concert. A true performer, Maya takes every opportunity to give her students the tools for transformation accompanied by a soundtrack for their lives.

Maya has grown far beyond the yoga studio, taking her teachings across various mediums, including TV, DVD, CD, and merchandise. Her first DVD, “Detox and De-stress” was released in 2007. Maya’s “7 Chakras through Kundalini Yoga” was launched on the Sky platform, via Body in Balance (BiB) in the UK in June 2008 and is currently shown several times a day, seven days a week. In August 2008, the first DVD box set of “A Journey Through the Chakras - Courage, Creativity & Willpower” was released, with the sequels “Love & Truth” and “Wisdom & Bliss” immediately following in 2009. Maya features these productions on several TV channels across Europe.

Maya has completed another TV/DVD/CD production to be released in Summer 2010 “The Mantras of Kundalini Yoga” using her own original composed music “Kundalini Mantras” to demonstrate the power and healing of sound. In addition, her first book, “Yoga for Real Life,” was released this January 2010 and sold over 10,000 copies in the first month.

In the US, Maya is featured daily on Fit TV and Discovery Health. She is also slated to be one of the key talents on Mark Goldman’s wellness channel, BE, hosting “Moments of Wellness” which will broadcast on several major cable channels. In 2009, Maya led wellness retreats and sold out workshops in Beijing, Singapore, Bali, London and France, as well as major appearances at the London Yoga Show and the Asia Yoga Conference. 2010’s calendar includes workshops and retreats in Germany, Jakarta, Burma, Hong Kong, London, Singapore, Mexico, a main stage appearance at Wanderlust Yoga & Music Festival in Lake Tahoe and a ten city book and workshop tour to coincide with the release of “Yoga for Real Life”. Locally, Maya can be found teaching public Kundalini Yoga classes at Exhale, Venice, CA.
