Janet Stone grew up on a wonderful, slightly hippied-out farm in Northern California, a childhood spent rescuing orphaned animals of every shape and size, eating a lot of tofu and homemade everything, cleaning rabbit cages, bailing hay, working hard, swimming naked, dancing around freely and feeling very naturally connected to the planet, a feeling which informs her life and teaching even now. Her early college years were spent in many delicious places, including a transformative stint wandering around Paris tasting every pastry, followed by large gulps of the great outdoors in Boulder, Colorado. From there, it was on to her first career in Los Angeles, where she spent 11 inspiring years as a produced in the film and TV industries.
Her epiphanic moment came in 1996 when she up and left the Hollywood scene and spent the next year and a half on a life-changing solo journey around the world, from New Zealand to Egypt, Thailand to northern India (where she first explored yoga and began her formal training), all of which led her to a deep, personal transformation on many levels. Time and fate guided her back to northern California, the region of her childhood, in 2001, where she settled in San Francisco to raise her amazing girls and open an enormous window to a new journey as a mother and yoga teacher, a journey that continues with joy and gratitude to this day.
