Born and raised in New York City, ki power vinyasa creator Isauro Fernandez practiced law for 20 years before experiencing the transformational effects of yoga. His commitment and passion for yoga began with martial arts, which he began studying at age six. He holds black belts in Judo and Tae Kwon Do and upon returning from the World Masters Tournament in Tokyo, Japan suffering from a shoulder injury, he discovered yoga and it became a life-changing habit that he practiced on a daily basis.
After reaching a deeper level with his yoga practice, Isauro began teaching regularly and later created and trademarked ki power vinyasa, which fused his two passions – the movement and breath of Vinyasa Yoga with the grace, focus and physical intensity of martial arts. In each class, he challenges his students to embark on a journey of personal development to uncover their authenticity through a powerful blend of sweat, strength and spirit. Through this, Isauro seeks to connect students with their ki – their life force, authentic self and essential energies.
Isauro teaches ki power vinyasa at Pure Yoga, located on the Upper East Side and Upper West Side of New York City. He is also available for private and corporate classes. In addition to classes in New York City, Isauro also holds ki power vinyasa teacher trainings for certified and non-certified teachers and hosts workshops around the country. A lover of Spanish wine and culture, Isauro offers Vino y Yoga retreats throughout Spain. He also hosts a Vino y Yoga series with wine expert, Alex Elman which consists of a one hour ki power vinyasa class followed by a 30 minute guided wine tasting focused on wine regions throughout Spain.
Isauro Fernandez is an E-RYT (a Yoga Alliance Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher). He is certified in Vinyasa by Power Yoga Works, an affiliated Baron Baptiste studio. He also holds certifications in Yogic Arts by Duncan Wong and is certified in Thai yoga massage bodywork. Isauro has been an Ambassador for Lululemon Athletica since 2009 and regularly teaches classes at their in-store studios. He was recently selected to represent New York City in Lululemon’s first Ambassador Summit held in Vancouver, British Columbia.
